Commercial FAQs

Q: Do you primarily use latex or oil-based paint for commercial jobs?

A: We use latex paints on all of our commercial paint jobs in Dublin, CA. Today’s latex paints have improved significantly and are as durable as oil-based paints. Latex paints dry faster, are easier to apply, come in a vast range of colors, and are easier to remove. Some latex paints allow painting in outside temperatures of 50 degrees Fahrenheit and lower, while others have better resistance against fading and mold.

Oil-based paints, on the other hand, give a hard, durable, and smooth finish. They also require only a few coats. However, the problem with oil paints is pollution. A gallon of oil-based paint contains around 2 quarts of mineral spirits. As the paint dries, these solvents evaporate as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air. Not only do oil paints emit smelly fumes, but they also pose a health and environmental hazard. The bottom line is that paint technology has shifted quite dramatically. Your best (and most likely only) choice will be latex.

Q: Do you use commercial paints safe for the environment?

A: Custom Painting, Inc. uses low- and zero-VOC paints to help safeguard people and those who work in your commercial properties.

Q: When should I have my commercial space painted?

A: It depends on how frequently an area in a commercial building is used, which can result in wear and tear. We generally recommend a fresh coat of paint every at least three years, although our recommendation highly depends on a commercial building’s traffic and usage patterns.

Q: What does it cost to paint a commercial building?

A: Several factors affect the overall cost of commercial painting. However, the size and scope predominantly dictate the pricing of any commercial painting job.

For the interior commercial paint job, the price depends on the square footage of your commercial space, the material to be used, logistics, labor, and a lot more. Commercial painting companies typically estimate the cost after assessing the area size, prep work needed, type of paint, and any other services required, such as epoxy coating and stenciling.

Exterior commercial paint jobs in Dublin can often be more complicated than interior paint jobs – thus, costlier. Aside from the overall square footage, other factors can influence the overall cost. These factors include the difficulty of prep work, the intricacy of minor architectural details, safety concerns, and outdoor obstructions. Also, exterior commercial painting often involves special equipment, which adds to the overall cost.

  • What is the size of the area that you would like to paint? The size is measured by square footage and will determine the needed paint.
  • What type of paint will you use? Commercial paint costs vary depending on color, finish, brand, etc.
  • The timeline and other particulars will factor into the project’s complexity, such as detailed trim work or extra repairs.
